Conflict Resolution and Mediation

The potential for conflict exists in any organization. In fact, healthy conflict can be critical to addressing issues, effecting change, and inspiring growth; however, stress and differing attitudes, personalities, work styles and communication styles can easily contribute miscommunications and misunderstandings in the workplace. Often times, people are not equipped with the coping techniques or communication skills needed to work through conflict. Keystone’s skilled coaches, facilitators and mediators have the expertise to guide disagreeing parties, whether groups or individuals, through the conflict and impart the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully handle future conflicts.

When conflict is too big to be contained or improved through coaching or facilitation, mediation is the next step. Mediation is a negotiation process in which the disputing parties are assisted by a neutral third-party—a mediator. More specifically, mediation has a structure, timetable and dynamics that "ordinary" negotiation lacks. Mediators use various techniques to open or improve dialogue between disputants, aiming to help the parties reach an agreement.
